Candidate Training Session
Candidates participating in the Public Campaign Finance Program must complete the mandatory training requirement prior to their authorized committee receiving public matching funds. This training session is also open to, and recommended for, any other individuals working with candidates and treasurers during the course of the campaign. The Candidate Training session will discuss various topics such as an introduction to the Program, qualifying for public funds, matchable and non-matchable contributions, uses of public funds, and other requirements and important information for candidates.

Treasurer Training Sessions
Training is mandatory for all committee treasurers participating in the Public Campaign Finance Program and must be completed prior to the committee receiving public matching funds. These training sessions are also open to, and recommended for, any other individuals working with candidates and treasurers during the course of the campaign. There are three separate training sessions for treasurers to attend, with a variety of days and times offered for each session. Training sessions will cover the Program's overview and campaign finance basics, including NYSBOE's Electronic Filing System Web Application and disclosure requirements.
Public Comment Opportunity

The New York State Public Campaign Finance Board is required to review and evaluate the effect of public financing on campaigns and will submit a report to the legislature by January 1, 2025.  We are interested in obtaining public comment to:

 

  • Determine the effect of public financing on political campaigns,
  • Determine the effect on the sources and amounts of campaign financing,
  • Determine the effect of the program on voter participation,
  • Determine the effect on a candidates’ ability to run for office,
  • Determine the effect of the program as it relates to the diversity of candidates seeking and/or elected to office,
  • Obtain recommendations for further legislative and regulatory change, and
  • Obtain recommendations on what worked well and what can be improved.

 

The written public comment period is open from November 6, 2024 – December 2, 2024.  Please submit your comments on the program to [email protected].
